The Proposal
Daniel proposed on March 9, 2010 at the Royal in Cancun, Mexico. We were on vacation with a friend during our "spring break" away from the gym. We have been to Cancun multiple times and have stayed in different hotels each time. This particular time we were staying at the Gran Melia, but secretly are lovers for the Royal. (The Royal Cancun is our all time favorite resort anywhere)! During the second day of our trip we were going in to get ready for our dinner reservations at the hotel when Daniel announced that we had special dinner plans for the night. I found it a little odd that we would be dining by ourselves during a "group vacation" but was secretly excited to get a little alone time. Daniel would not tell me the plans or where we were going so I just was "along for the ride". Eventually our cab pulled up at The Royal Cancun and I was so excited! It is by far our favorite hotel in Cancun and I was really excited to eat the yummy food! After "checking in" at the front desk they led us down a rose petal, candle lit path to a private dinner set up for two. It was sooo romantic and just what we needed after a busy day. Throughout dinner we had several conversations about life, love, etc which I found somewhat normal because usually "date nights" consisted of these kinds of conversations. BUT the big difference in this night was towards the end of dinner, Daniel started getting up from the table. By the time I looked over to see what he was doing he was on one knee saying all kinds of wonderful lovey dovey stuff that I can't remember. I immediately started crying and asking, "right now, really??" After 8 years together I was completely caught off guard (which is hard to do). After a few minutes on his knee he asked what my answer was and I said "YES"!
